In the early hours of a Thursday morning in Jonesboro, Georgia, tragedy struck, forever altering the course of several lives. On March 7, 2019, inside a home on Attleboro Drive, 29-year-old Jamar Hall was fatally shot. The incident, which unfolded around 2:30 a.m., left another woman at the residence with a gunshot wound to her leg. When Clayton County Police officers responded to a 911 call about a person shot, they discovered Mr. Hall deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified a suspect, 28-year-old Simon Smith Sayers. He was promptly named Clayton County's most wanted fugitive. The search for Sayers was swift, and by 10 p.m. that same day, he was located and apprehended by police detectives in Norcross. Along with the arrest, authorities also recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.
Following his capture, Simon Smith Sayers was booked into the Clayton County jail. He faced charges of murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of Jamar Hall and the injury to the second victim.
