Ronnie Jackson Jr., 29, a Black male from Columbus, Georgia, was killed on February 11, 2020, after an early-morning shooting on Fifth Avenue. Police identified him later that day, and reports said he was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional’s emergency room, where he was pronounced dead at 10:26 a.m. The killing left his family facing a sudden and brutal loss, and his death was soon being mourned publicly in Columbus as funeral arrangements were announced for the days that followed.
