In the quiet town of Millen, Georgia, a family argument on a Sunday afternoon in March of 2020 escalated into a tragedy that would leave one brother dead and their father critically injured. Demirio Griffin, a 39-year-old African American man, was fatally shot inside a residence on McComb Drive. The incident, which unfolded on March 22, 2020, sent shockwaves through the local community.
The ensuing investigation by the Millen Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation pointed to a domestic dispute between family members as the catalyst for the violence. Authorities identified Demirio's younger brother, 33-year-old Gregory Tremone Griffin, as the suspect. In the same altercation, their father, 58-year-old Gregory Griffin, was also shot and left in critical condition.
Following the shooting, Gregory Tremone Griffin fled the scene and was later found barricaded in a nearby abandoned house.
