Shamarion Austin, a 14-year-old African American girl from Helena, Georgia, tragically lost her life on April 1, 2020, in what authorities have described as an accidental shooting. The incident occurred at a home on Collins Street around 6:30 p.m. According to McRae-Helena Police Chief Glenn Giles, the preliminary investigation revealed that Shamarion was accidentally shot by a young family member.
