In a tragic turn of events on May 28, 2020, a Hispanic male named Anthony Aguilar of Roswell lost his life in what police have described as a botched drug deal in Smyrna, Georgia. The incident unfolded at the Wyndcliff Galleria apartments, where Aguilar was discovered inside his white Nissan Versa with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The man accused of the crime, Kristion Taylor White, 21, surprisingly turned himself in to the authorities. Several hours after the shooting, at approximately 8:30 p.m., White contacted the Smyrna police department and admitted his involvement in the deadly encounter. He was taken into custody without incident and has since been charged with felony murder and drug possession.
According to the arrest warrant, the tragic events began when White, a resident of Cobb County, arranged to meet with Aguilar at the Wyndcliff Apartments on Cobb Parkway around 5:30 p.m. to purchase pain medication. During the transaction, Aguilar reportedly instructed White to get into his car. As Aguilar began driving through the parking lot, White allegedly expressed his desire to exit the vehicle. It was at this point that White is accused of firing three shots, leading to Aguilar's death.
Following the shooting, White returned to his residence, where he gave the gun to his roommate. After charging his phone, he then placed the call to 911 to report the shooting. Smyrna police were able to locate the firearm at White's home. Subsequent to his confession and an interview with investigators, White was arrested and booked into the Cobb County jail, where he was held without bond.
