In the quiet town of Vienna, Georgia, on a Saturday morning in June of 2020, a tragic event unfolded that would cut short the life of Robert Middleton Davis. A 52-year-old white male, Davis was found deceased inside his residence on Swearengin Road on June 13, 2020. His death was the result of a violent intrusion into his home.

Their investigation, including an autopsy, determined that he had died from a gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. The information provided by the rescued woman pointed to one suspect: 41-year-old Heath Thomas Register of Crisp County. A search for Register was promptly initiated, with law enforcement tracking him to a wooded area off Highway 280. He was considered armed and dangerous, reportedly in possession of a rifle. Later that evening, Register was located at a residence on the same highway. A brief standoff with deputies ensued before he was taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Heath Thomas Register faced a litany of charges, including murder, aggravated assault, burglary, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The legal process moved forward, and the case culminated in Register receiving two life sentences for the murder of Robert Middleton Davis.
