In the late morning of a summer day in Milledgeville, Georgia, a sense of unease prompted 33-year-old Tameka Justice to reach out for help. On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, she placed a 911 call from her home on West Mitchell Street, reporting that she was being harassed by her boyfriend, 31-year-old Randall Wilson. The call, logged at 11:36 a.m., set in motion a tragic sequence of events that would end two lives.
When officers from the Milledgeville Police Department arrived at the
residence, the situation escalated dramatically. In the presence of the officers, Wilson opened fire, shooting Justice multiple times before turning the gun on himself. The sudden violence left both individuals with critical injuries. Police at the scene immediately rendered aid to the couple.
Emergency services rushed both Tameka Justice and Randall Wilson to Navicent Health Baldwin. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, their injuries proved fatal. Wilson was pronounced dead at 12:07 p.m., followed by Justice just a minute later at 12:08 p.m. The case was quickly determined to be an apparent murder-suicide, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to lead the investigation. Authorities later confirmed that there was an open domestic violence case involving the couple at the time of the shooting, and Wilson had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
