In the late afternoon of September 5, 2020, a violent encounter in Ellabell, Georgia, led to the death of 21-year-old Tyree “Bleek” Dixon. The Bryan County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence on Murchinson Road at approximately 3:40 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered a chaotic scene with multiple victims.
Dixon had sustained gunshot wounds and was quickly transported to Memorial Health in Savannah for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Another young man, 20-year-old Zachariah “Zack” Jones, was found deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. A third individual, 35-year-old Michael Dixon, was also shot and taken to the same hospital; he was treated for his injuries and subsequently released.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to lead the inquiry into the double homicide. Investigators began the process of examining the crime scene and conducting interviews to piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting. The bodies of both Tyree Dixon and Zachariah Jones were sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy to determine the official causes of death.
As of the initial reports, the investigation was described as active and ongoing. Authorities had not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shootings. They urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the Bryan County Sheriff's Office or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist in their efforts to bring clarity and justice to the case.
