In the quiet town of Milledgeville, Georgia, the life of 38-year-old John Shane McAfee, a U.S. Army veteran, was cut short on the evening of October 3, 2020. As he returned to his home from his job at Tractor Supply Company, he was fatally shot in his driveway. Inside the house, his girlfriend, Wendy Pence, was preparing dinner when she heard the sound of his truck followed by the terrifying ring of gunshots. McAfee's last words were a desperate plea to her: 'Baby, baby, call 911, call 911.'
