In the fall of 2020, the life of 20-year-old Blake Edwin Porter of Marietta, Georgia, was tragically cut short. On the evening of October 31, 2020, his body was discovered in a wooded area off Delk Road. An investigation by the Cobb County police quickly determined that his death was a homicide, as he had been shot multiple times in the back. The discovery sent ripples of grief and shock through his community and family, who described him as a kindhearted and caring young man with a smile that
could light up any room.
The investigation into the murder of Blake Porter led authorities to a close friend, Kehari Yarber. Family members described the bond between the two young men as incredibly close, with Porter often referring to Yarber as his 'twin.' Surveillance footage from the area where Porter's body was found showed him walking with another man on a path the evening before he was discovered. The video captured a muzzle flash just seconds after they entered the path, followed by a second one shortly after. Investigators were able to identify the man with Porter as Yarber through additional surveillance footage from a nearby gas station and images from social media.
On December 15, 2020, Kehari Yarber was arrested in Clayton County. He was later indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. The indictment mentioned that Yarber had taken a bag from Porter, though the contents of the bag were not specified. In March 2024, a jury found Yarber guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, with an additional five years to be served consecutively, bringing a measure of justice to the family and friends of Blake Porter.
