On a summer evening in Fairmont-Heights, Maryland, 16-year-old George Waymer Jr. was enjoying a game of basketball with his friends in the 5700 block of Aspen Street. The night of July 8, 2012, took a tragic turn when he was fatally shot. His father, George Waymer Sr., recalled hearing the gunfire and then the dreadful news from one of his son's friends. He rushed outside to find his son unresponsive in the street.
