In the early evening of December 28, 2020, a violent encounter unfolded on a stretch of U.S. Highway 1 in Emanuel County, Georgia. Twenty-one-year-old Dajarius Zashawn McGuire was a passenger in a car being driven by Daniqua S. Sanders. As they traveled south between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., another vehicle began to trail them. Suddenly, occupants of the trailing car opened fire, riddling the vehicle carrying McGuire and Sanders with bullets. McGuire was struck by the gunfire and fatally wounded. The ...
