On what should have been a day of celebration, her 36th birthday, Kelly Huber Vucelich's life was tragically cut short in her Roswell, Georgia apartment. On January 16, 2021, the 36-year-old female was found deceased by police who were responding to a call from a concerned family member. The family member had been contacted by Vucelich's boyfriend, Jason Scott Hall, who stated that she may have been shot. When officers arrived at the Chattahoochee Circle apartment, they discovered Vucelich had died from a gunshot wound.
The investigation quickly identified Jason Hall, who was 36 at the time, as the primary suspect, but he had fled the scene. A family member had driven Hall to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. There, he was met by Gainesville police and Hall County sheriff's deputies. Hall initially ran from the officers but was found outside an unoccupied building at the hospital, armed with a gun. A standoff that lasted for about an hour ensued, during which authorities utilized de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques. The situation was ultimately resolved peacefully, and Hall was taken into custody without further incident.
Following his arrest, Jason Hall was turned over to the Roswell Police Department and charged with murder. He was subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail. In the weeks following the incident, Hall was released on a $130,000 bond, a decision that prompted public outcry, including an online petition to have his bond revoked. In October 2021, a Fulton County grand jury indicted Hall on murder charges. Ultimately, in April 2024, Jason Scott Hall pleaded guilty to killing Kelly Vucelich. He was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison and will not be eligible for parole.
