On the evening of February 11, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace at a shopping center on South Lumpkin Road in Columbus, Georgia, leaving a community in shock and a family mourning the loss of 37-year-old Derico Pritchett. An African American male, Pritchett was at the shopping plaza when the shooting erupted at approximately 7:00 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:20 p.m.
