The grim discovery was made on March 26th, when Lindsay's concerned older daughter, having not heard from her mother for several days, went to the residence on Apple Grove Road. Gaining entry through a window, she found her 8-year-old brother asleep and unharmed in a bedroom.
The true horror of the situation unfolded when she found her mother and teenage brother deceased from gunshot wounds in another locked bedroom.
The investigation swiftly identified William Jerome Adams, 24 at the time, as the primary suspect. Adams had been in a relationship with Mary Lindsay and was living with the family. Evidence suggested a troubled and abusive relationship. Ten days prior to the killings, Atif and his twin sister had found a handgun in their mother's room which she identified as belonging to Adams.
