In the spring of 2021, a 39-year-old man named Michael Bowden was fatally shot in Atlanta, Georgia. The incident occurred on the evening of April 2nd, at the intersection of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and Troy Street in the northwestern part of the city. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Bowden unconscious. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting marked the second homicide at that same intersection within a six-month period.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Atlanta Police Department began an investigation to identify the person or persons responsible for Bowden's death. A few days following the incident, authorities released video footage to the public that showed a person of interest. The individual was described as a man wearing a long, tan coat. The Atlanta Police Department, with assistance from the Secret Service, located and arrested a suspect. The individual taken into custody was identified as Tyrik Bush, who had been on the city's 'most wanted' list. Bush was subsequently charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Michael Bowden and was booked into the Fulton County Jail. While an arrest was made, law enforcement officials did not publicly disclose a motive for the shooting.
