In the spring of 2021, a burst of violence in a southeast Atlanta park cut short the life of a 30-year-old African American man. On the afternoon of April 7, 2021, Tahji Williams was at Selena S. Butler Park when he was fatally shot. The incident prompted calls to the Atlanta police, who arrived at the scene just before 3 p.m. to find Williams unconscious.
