In the summer of 2021, on June 24th, the life of 29-year-old Shannon Cadeedra Riley was tragically cut short in Brunswick, Georgia. That afternoon, officers from the Brunswick Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Mansfield Street following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Shannon suffering from gunshot wounds. She was rushed to the nearby Southeast Georgia Health System, but her injuries proved to be fatal, and she died at the hospital.
The investigation into the shooting death of the female victim continued for months. Investigators were eventually able to identify Chequerdo DaShawn Foy, a 20-year-old from Brunswick, as a suspect in connection with the incident. In the weeks following the shooting, police sought the public's help in locating Foy, identifying him as a person of interest who might have crucial information about the case. He was believed to be driving a white Honda Civic with a temporary Georgia license plate.
A significant break in the case came on February 22, 2022, when Foy was located and apprehended in Orlando, Florida. The arrest was made by the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force. Foy was subsequently charged with party to a crime of murder and armed robbery. He was then extradited and held in custody at the Glynn County Sheriff's Office. Authorities also indicated that a second suspect was identified and was awaiting extradition from Marion County, Florida, though this individual was not named in the reports. The investigation was described as active and ongoing even after Foy's arrest.
