Tevyn Huey, a 20-year-old Black male, was killed late on June 29, 2021, at a warehouse on Hunter Road in Union City, Georgia, in what police described as a workplace dispute that turned fatal. Local reports said the trouble began as an argument between employees, then became physical. In the middle of that chaos, Huey’s last moments unfolded on the job, inside a place that should have been ordinary and routine, before the confrontation ended in gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man publicly identified as the suspect was Reginald Stewart. Reporting at the time said Stewart and Huey were co-workers, and that after the fight broke out, Stewart went to get a firearm and shot Huey at least twice. One later report tied to litigation over the case described the shooting in even starker terms, alleging Stewart left after the fistfight, retrieved a gun from his vehicle, returned, and shot Huey in the head and chest while other warehouse employees witnessed what happened.
As for arrests, the available reporting indicates Stewart was taken into custody the same night. FOX 5 reported that he contacted police to turn himself in, and 11Alive reported that the suspect was in custody and facing murder charges. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution summary that appeared in syndication likewise said one employee was accused of murder after calling 911 from his home and reporting the death before surrendering peacefully. Based on the sources I found, the case centered on one named suspect rather than multiple suspects.
What happened after the arrest is harder to trace in public reporting. I found later coverage not of a criminal trial, but of a wrongful death lawsuit filed on April 27, 2023, by Carol Robinson-Huey, acting individually and as administrator of the estate. That suit alleged failures in workplace safety, supervision, and security, and named corporate defendants connected to the warehouse operation and staffing arrangements. In that later account, the killing remained the same grim pivot point: a fight, a departure, a return with a gun, and a young man who never made it home. I did not locate reliable public reporting in the sources reviewed that confirmed a later criminal trial, conviction, or final sentence in Stewart’s case.
