In the autumn of 2021, a dispute between roommates in Atlanta, Georgia, tragically escalated, leaving one man dead and the other facing a lifetime behind bars. The victim was 60-year-old Timothy Xavier Walker Sr., a male whose life was cut short on November 30, 2021. The incident unfolded at a residence on Oakland Drive in the southwest part of the city.
Atlanta police officers responded to a call about an injured person at the home around 9:15 in the morning.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Walker deceased inside the residence. The initial investigation quickly pointed to a violent confrontation between Walker and his roommate. Homicide detectives determined that a heated argument had turned into a physical fight, which ultimately resulted in Walker's death. The specific cause of death was not immediately released to the public.
The suspect in the case was identified as Walker's 43-year-old roommate, Bobby Crawford. By the time police arrived at the scene, Crawford had already fled. The Atlanta Police Department's Fugitive Unit immediately began a search for him. Warrants were issued for his arrest on charges of murder and aggravated assault. The manhunt came to an end a week later, on December 7, 2021, when investigators located and apprehended Crawford at a location on Ponce de Leon Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Fulton County Jail, where he was held without bond.
The legal process moved forward, culminating in the trial of Bobby Crawford. In a Fulton County courtroom, a jury found him guilty on all counts he was charged with, including Murder, Felony Murder, and Aggravated Assault. Following the conviction, Judge Melynee Leftridge handed down a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, ensuring that Crawford would be held accountable for the death of his roommate, Timothy Xavier Walker Sr.
