A talented and beloved chef, Lashunder Shree Edge, was the unintended victim of a drive-by shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. On the evening of March 1, 2022, the 64-year-old grandmother was walking into a Chevron gas station on Lakewood Avenue to cash in a lottery ticket when she was struck by gunfire. Emergency services transported her to a local hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.
Another man was also wounded in the shooting but was able to transport himself to the hospital for treatment.
Known affectionately as 'Shree,' Edge had a passion for the culinary arts, having worked in several upscale Atlanta restaurants. Her family described her as a free spirit who loved life and the people in it. The tragic and senseless nature of her death left her family and community devastated. In a sad turn of events, her sister fell into a deep depression following the loss and passed away less than two months later.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Atlanta police began an investigation and appealed to the public for assistance. They released surveillance images of two vehicles believed to be involved in the incident: a dark-colored Acura SUV and a gray sedan. While the Acura was later recovered by investigators, the gray sedan and the occupants of both vehicles remained at large. Edge's family has offered a reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case, hoping for justice and some measure of closure.
As of early 2023, nearly a year after her death, no arrests have been made in the case. The investigation into the murder of Lashunder Shree Edge remains ongoing. Her family continues to mourn their loss and held a vigil to honor her memory on what would have been her 65th birthday, releasing balloons and sharing memories of the woman who was a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister.
