Demetrius Avant Wilson, a 20-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on the night of April 5, 2022, in Clayton County, Georgia. The fatal incident unfolded near the entrance of the Elite at 285 apartment complex located on Riverdale Road. Clayton County Police officers responded to a call regarding a person shot at approximately 11:45 p.m. and, upon their arrival, discovered Wilson suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting revealed that the violence had erupted following a dispute at a nearby gas station. Wilson and his friends had reportedly encountered another group of individuals, which led to a confrontation. It was during this altercation that Demetrius Avant Wilson was shot. After being wounded, he managed to make his way back to the apartment complex, where he ultimately collapsed.
