An African American woman, Griffin was at her Clayton County residence on July 5, 2022, when an argument with her 44-year-old boyfriend, Kevin Nicholas Barge, turned deadly.
According to a friend who was present, the argument between Griffin and Barge intensified, leading to Barge allegedly pistol-whipping both women.
He then bound their hands and feet, shot Griffin multiple times, and left them for dead. Miraculously, Griffin's friend managed to free herself and flee to a neighbor's home to call for help. Despite the swift response and initial hopes for her survival, Carolyn Griffin succumbed to her injuries.
