In the late hours of a summer night in 2022, a dispute would tragically cut short the life of 38-year-old Darius Arnold. On August 11th, DeKalb County police responded to a call on Hatton Drive in the Scottsdale area, where they discovered Arnold's body. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, his body found lying in a grassy area behind an apartment building.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to an altercation over a mutual female
acquaintance as the motive. This led authorities to identify two suspects: 27-year-old Zaria Jones and 21-year-old Jacquez McDonald. Jones was taken into custody by the end of the day on Thursday, and the ensuing investigation led to the arrest of McDonald on the following Saturday. With both in custody, police confirmed they had apprehended all suspects in the case. Both Jones and McDonald were subsequently charged with homicide and booked into the DeKalb County Jail.
