In the pre-dawn hours of a Wednesday in August 2022, the life of Darrell Lynn Boyd, a 34-year-old male, was tragically cut short on a street in southwest Atlanta. His body was discovered lying in the middle of Anchor Terrace SW just after 1 a.m. on August 17, 2022, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
Atlanta police investigators believe that Boyd had gone to that location to meet with an individual who owed him money.
It was during this encounter to settle a debt that the situation escalated, resulting in Boyd being shot. The suspect, whose identity remains unknown, fled the scene immediately after the fatal shooting, leaving Boyd to be found by authorities responding to a person shot call.
In the days following the homicide, the Atlanta Police Department reached out to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect. They released a surveillance photograph of a vehicle believed to be connected to the person responsible for Boyd's death. The car was described as a white, second-generation Ford Fusion with a paper tag that had a possible expiration date of September 30, 2022. The vehicle was reportedly last seen turning onto Langhorn Street and then heading toward the I-20 access road. A reward was offered by Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta for any information that would lead to an arrest in the case. Despite these efforts, as of early 2023, the investigation into Darrell Lynn Boyd's murder was still considered open and active, with no arrests or suspects publicly identified.
