In the pre-dawn hours of August 28, 2022, the life of 40-year-old Demetrius Ralpheal Dow was tragically cut short in what investigators believe was a robbery that turned deadly. Cobb County police responded to a call of a person shot at the District at Vinings apartment complex on Paces Ferry Road just before 4 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Dow outside one of the buildings with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate efforts of first responders to treat his injuries, Dow succumbed to his wounds at the scene.
The investigation into Dow's death led authorities to identify two suspects. In December 2022, Ambakisye Mizell, a 29-year-old, was arrested in connection with the murder. Initially, Mizell faced charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and attempted armed robbery. The investigation suggested that the motive behind the fatal shooting was an attempt to rob Dow of his Rolex watch.
Later, the case expanded with the indictment of a second suspect, 40-year-old Gregory Tyrone Graham of Atlanta. Both Mizell and Graham were subsequently indicted by a Cobb County grand jury on a series of charges, including malice murder, three counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a first offender on probation, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. According to the warrant for Graham's arrest, it is alleged that Mizell was the one who discharged the firearm that killed Dow. Both men were held without bond at the Cobb County jail as they awaited legal proceedings.
