In the late hours of a Friday night in Macon, Georgia, tragedy struck, forever altering the lives of a local family. On October 29, 2022, 23-year-old Dakari Faulkner was found suffering from a single gunshot wound in the 2500 block of Willis Drive. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a person shot just before 11:30 p.m. and discovered the gravely injured young man.
Faulkner was rushed to Atrium Health Navicent, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Faulkner's death began immediately, with detectives from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office working to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. As they delved into the circumstances of the case, a person of interest emerged. Investigators identified 26-year-old Shavion Devonta Ashley as being connected to the death of Faulkner. Warrants were subsequently issued for his arrest.
With the assistance of the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Ashley was located at a residence on Cambridge Drive. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Ashley was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony. He is being held without bond as the investigation continues. Authorities have indicated that additional arrests and charges may be pending as they continue to explore the case.
