Ahmed Jabari Hill Sr., a 46-year-old Black man from Augusta, was shot on November 20, 2022, at his home in the 3500 block of Tullocks Hill Drive in the Glenn Hills area. Early reports said deputies found him wounded shortly after noon and that he had been shot at least once, with later reporting identifying the wound as a gunshot to his right leg. He was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center, but he did not survive, and the killing quickly became one of the city’s homicides from that
weekend. In the first hours after his death, authorities released very little, and the case hung in that familiar silence that often follows a neighborhood killing, when the facts are still being gathered and everyone nearby is left to reckon with what just happened.
As the investigation unfolded, two women were publicly identified in connection with the case. Angel Burley was arrested on November 21, 2022, and charged with murder in Hill’s death. Around the same time, Stephanie Renee Overton, then a pre-kindergarten teacher at Lake Forest Hills Elementary School, was also arrested and described in reporting as a co-conspirator; online coverage said she was charged with murder as well. Some of the reporting from that period also said Burley had accused Hill of abusing her in the past, giving the case the shape of a personal conflict that had been building long before the gunfire on Tullocks Hill Drive.
The case did not end with those first arrests. In May 2025, authorities announced that Ricardo Sanchez Daggett, identified in reporting as Burley’s son, had been taken into custody during a traffic stop on Royal Street in Augusta after being wanted in connection with the 2022 homicide. Reports said he was arrested on a grand jury warrant charging him with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and that federal and local agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, ATF, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, were involved in the arrest. By that point, public reporting portrayed the case as one with three accused participants: Burley, Overton, and Daggett. In the online sources available, the clearest documented developments are those arrests and charges; I did not find a later publicly reported trial verdict or conviction outcome in the accessible coverage I reviewed.
