Sheldon S. "Shelley" Nicks, a 23-year-old deputy sheriff, tragically lost his life on May 8, 1909, in Pasco County, Florida. On that fateful day, Deputy Nicks was accompanying his father, the town marshal of Fivay, to serve a warrant. As they attempted to take the suspect into custody, the man produced a handgun.
