Abe Schneider, a 24-year-old deputy from Saint Augustine, Florida, tragically lost his life on March 5, 1911. Schneider was assisting Deputy Guy White in transporting four suspects to jail for disorderly conduct and carrying a weapon. The incident took a fatal turn when one of the suspects produced a handgun during a search at the jail and shot both deputies. Schneider and White were both killed in the line of duty.
