Federal Prohibition Agent John Van Waters was tragically killed on October 4, 1922, in Dade City, Florida. He was ambushed and shot while investigating illegal stills in Pasco County. Van Waters, along with Constable Arthur Crenshaw of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, was conducting an investigation into illicit distilleries when they were attacked.
