Floyd Douglas Heist Sr., a 42-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on May 3, 1980, in Pensacola, Florida. He was serving as a Deputy Sheriff with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office at the time of his death. On that fateful day, Deputy Heist responded to an armed robbery at a local business.
