Vernon Matthew Williams, a 39-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on September 28, 2006, in Lakeland, Florida. Williams, a dedicated deputy sheriff with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, was killed in the line of duty. He had been serving the community since 1994 and was well-regarded for his commitment and bravery.
