JaDarrius Lamar Speights, a 3-year-old boy from Tampa, Florida, tragically died on May 7, 2013. The incident occurred when JaDarrius found an unsecured 9mm handgun in a backpack belonging to his uncle, Jeffrey D. Walker. While alone in the bedroom he shared with his uncle, JaDarrius accidentally discharged the firearm, resulting in a fatal gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to Florida Hospital Tampa, JaDarrius succumbed to his injuries.
