Adrian Watkins Jr., an 18-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, tragically lost his life on January 31, 2014. Adrian was a student at First Coast High School and was remembered by his parents as a loving individual who enjoyed cooking and sports. Despite their efforts to guide him, Adrian had recently started associating with a less favorable crowd.
On the night of his death, he informed his parents that he was going to a party at a Hampton Inn, a decision that would lead to his untimely demise.
The investigation into Adrian's death revealed that he was shot three times by Gregory Devalle Robinson, a friend and neighbor who lived across the street. Both Adrian and Gregory had been involved in a group fight at school, which resulted in their expulsion. On the day of the incident, witnesses reported seeing the two walking together to a nearby park. It was there that Gregory shot Adrian and fled the scene. The gun used in the crime was later found in Gregory's house.
Gregory Robinson was charged with second-degree murder and pleaded guilty to the crime in 2017. He now faces a maximum sentence of life in Florida State Prison. The case was thoroughly investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and successfully prosecuted by the State Attorney's Office. Adrian's death serves as a somber reminder of the consequences of violence and the importance of making positive life choices.
