Dana Fegueroa, a 29-year-old woman from Immokalee, FL, was tragically shot and killed on October 6, 2014. The incident occurred in a trailer located on the Seminole reservation near Immokalee. According to reports, Dana was shot multiple times in the head by Aaron Reyna, a 23-year-old man from LaBelle, FL. The altercation began after Dana asked for a ride to work, which led to an argument where Reyna felt disrespected by her. Witnesses inside the trailer reported that Reyna followed Dana to a bedroom and shot her four times in the back of the head. Her body was later found wrapped in a sheet and placed inside a large plastic container.
Following the shooting, Reyna held another man, Armando Garcia, at gunpoint inside the trailer, leading to a nearly four-hour standoff with authorities. During this time, Reyna fired another shot inside the trailer and demanded to be taken seriously by hostage negotiators. Eventually, Reyna surrendered to the authorities. In his confession, Reyna admitted to shooting Dana because she had disrespected him during their argument.
Aaron Reyna was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping, and shooting into a dwelling. During his trial, witnesses testified about the events leading up to the shooting and the moments immediately following it. The jury found Reyna guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of shooting within a dwelling. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, with an additional 15 years for each count of shooting within a dwelling, to be served concurrently but consecutively to his life sentence.
