In the quiet community of Sarasota, Florida, a devastating act of violence claimed the life of Olga Greinert, a 49-year-old woman, on February 10, 2026. Born in Kakhovka, Ukraine, Greinert was remembered by friends and family as a compassionate and devoted mother whose children were the center of her world. She was working as a housekeeper for a family in the Amberlea neighborhood when she tragically became an innocent victim in a mass shooting.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office
identified the shooter as Russell Kot. Investigators learned that Kot had previously been in a relationship with Larissa Blyudoy, the daughter of another victim, Florita Stolyar. After their separation, Kot went to the family's home where he first killed Olga Greinert and Yaroslav Blyudoy, Florita's son. He then waited for Florita Stolyar and her husband, Anatoly Ioffe, to return home, at which point he shot and killed them as well before taking his own life.
Law enforcement officials reported that each victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A search of Kot's vehicle uncovered two handguns, ammunition, knives, rope, tape, and an axe, in addition to the two handguns he carried into the residence. While the tragic sequence of events has been pieced together, detectives are still working to establish a definitive motive for the horrific crimes. The investigation has not revealed any apparent triggering event in Kot's cellular phone records or a history of mental illness or violence. The community has been left to mourn the senseless loss of Olga Greinert and the other victims, remembering her as a kind and resilient woman who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
