Richard Newton, a 14-year-old African American boy from Tampa, Florida, tragically lost his life on March 21, 2015. Richard was attending an outdoor birthday party in a Tampa neighborhood, which was attended by approximately 40 to 50 teenagers aged 14 to 16. During the event, a fight broke out, and someone fired shots into the crowd. Richard was struck by the gunfire and died at the scene. Two other teenagers were also shot but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
