Augusto Collado, a 63-year-old Puerto Rican man, was tragically shot and killed on December 15, 2015, in Jacksonville, Florida. Collado, a retired Army veteran and former police officer, had moved to Jacksonville about a year prior to his death. On the night of the incident, Collado was at home with his wife and grandson when he answered a knock at the door around 11 p.m. Two men, who appeared to be in their 20s, were at the door.
