On the day of the incident, she contacted her boyfriend, Arturo Exum, complaining about Reid.
Arturo Exum, a 31-year-old man, arrived at the restaurant shortly after receiving the text message from his girlfriend. Surveillance footage revealed that Exum walked through the restaurant without speaking to anyone, proceeded to the kitchen, and shot Reid multiple times at close range. Reid was struck in the chest and was later pronounced dead at Aventura Hospital. Witnesses described the scene as intense and chaotic, with many employees and patrons in shock.
