Garrick Garrod Austin, a 27-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on October 6, 2017, in Jacksonville, Florida. Garrick was shot and killed in the 600 block of East 31st Street, marking him as the 100th homicide victim in Jacksonville for that year. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office identified him shortly after the incident. Garrick's death was a significant loss to his family and community, as he was a beloved son, father, uncle, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.
