Dylan Jones, a 21-year-old resident of Daytona Beach, Florida, tragically lost his life on May 1, 2018. On that fateful evening, police were called to a beachside home on Butler Boulevard after a panicked woman, who identified herself as Jones' girlfriend, reported that he had been shot. When she returned home after a brief absence, she found Jones lying outside with a bullet wound and barely breathing.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 10 p.m.
The investigation into Jones' death revealed a chaotic and violent scene. Police discovered that the sliding glass door to his home was ajar, and inside, they found a bloody handprint on a wall and a blood-soaked mattress in a top-floor bedroom. Jones had a troubled past, with a record of felony arrests. In November 2014, he reported a burglary at his home, which led to the discovery of drugs and paraphernalia by the police. In June 2016, he was arrested for allegedly aiming a gun at a man he accused of sleeping with his girlfriend and ordering another man to attack the victim. Despite these incidents, there was no immediate indication that his past was directly connected to his murder.
The investigation into Jones' death remains open, with no arrests made to date. The Daytona Beach Police Department continues to seek information from the public to solve the case.
