Rennie Defoe Jr., a 43-year-old African American man, died on July 17, 2018, in Lakeland, Florida, under tragic circumstances. Defoe was fatally shot by Mehedeun Hasan, a 22-year-old convenience store clerk, during an attempted theft. The incident occurred at a Shell gas station on North Combee Road in Lakeland.
