Theron Anthony Burnham, a 27-year-old deputy sheriff from Polk County, Florida, tragically lost his life on January 9, 1981. Deputy Burnham was dispatched to investigate a suspicious person walking along Drane Field Road, near the Lakeland Municipal Airport, at around 4:00 a.m. Unbeknownst to him, the suspect had already committed two murders earlier that evening and was under the influence of narcotics.
