On December 23, 2018, Destiny Loper, a 17-year-old girl from Saint Petersburg, Florida, tragically lost her life in an accidental shooting. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. while Destiny was in a moving vehicle near Central Avenue and 58th Street. According to reports, a gun accidentally discharged inside the vehicle, striking Destiny. The driver of the vehicle, in a desperate attempt to seek help, drove to the nearest police station on Central Avenue and flagged down an officer.
