In the days following the shooting, the Baltimore Police Department released surveillance footage to the public in an appeal for assistance. The video captured grainy images of two individuals, believed to be the suspects, approaching Meneil in an alleyway before opening fire. After the barrage of shots, the two figures were seen hastily fleeing the area. One woman who lived nearby later recounted hearing as many as 17 shots from what she believed were two different guns.
