Jaikeshia Nevika McLeod, a 24-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on January 20, 2019, in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred during a drive-by shooting in the 8500 block of Julia Marie Circle. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, McLeod and another unidentified individual were in a vehicle when someone in a second vehicle opened fire on them. The shooting resulted in McLeod being fatally wounded, and she was pronounced dead upon arrival at Park West ER.
