Denim Jorey Williams, a 14-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, tragically lost his life on February 14, 2019. Denim was one of the victims in a quadruple shooting that occurred at Elizabeth R. Powell Park in Northwest Jacksonville. The incident began as a planned fight between two female acquaintances, which escalated into a deadly shootout among the spectators. Denim was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital the following morning.
Another victim, 24-year-old Titus Ezekial Mobley, also lost his life in the shooting, while two other men sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) reported that the altercation started when the two females agreed to meet at the park to settle a dispute. As the fight drew a crowd, some of the spectators, who were armed, began shooting at each other. The police have stated that there is no indication that the incident was gang-related. The deaths of Denim Williams and Titus Mobley have been classified as homicides pending further investigation by the Violent Crime Impact Team detectives.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The JSO continues to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to come forward.
