Porche Abraham, a 34-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, tragically lost her life on April 13, 2020. The circumstances surrounding her death were both shocking and deeply disturbing. On that fateful night, Porche was involved in a heated altercation with her uncle, Salah Hamlette, 39, with whom she had been in an incestuous relationship for years.
The two had spent the night consuming cocaine and ecstasy, which escalated into a violent confrontation early in the morning.
According to reports, the argument turned physical when Porche allegedly pointed a rifle at Hamlette. In response, Hamlette claimed he acted in self-defense, stabbing Porche multiple times in the chest and abdomen. However, the details provided by Porche's 4-year-old daughter, who witnessed the incident, painted a different picture. The young girl recounted that her mother did point the weapon at Hamlette, but he then threw her to the ground and repeatedly stabbed her. The police report noted that the rifle, which should have been covered in blood if it had been near Porche during the stabbing, only had a few smudges, casting doubt on Hamlette's self-defense claim.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Porche's lifeless body in the kitchen, with a significant amount of blood saturating her shirt and pooling beneath her. In addition to the stab wounds, Porche had a gunshot wound to her neck, although Hamlette denied shooting her. The investigation revealed a trail of blood leading from the living room, past a rifle on the floor, a bloody kitchen knife, and to the front door. Deputies also discovered a handgun in one of the bedrooms and another in a closet in a second bedroom.
Salah Hamlette was arrested and charged with second-degree murder with a weapon and child abuse, given the presence of Porche's daughter during the violent incident. He was held without bond as the investigation continued. The case highlighted the complexities and tragic consequences of substance abuse, domestic violence, and the devastating impact on innocent children caught in the crossfire.
