Frances Eve Arsenault, a 30-year-old woman from Orlando, FL, tragically lost her life on June 20, 2021. Frances was attending a Father's Day gathering when the incident occurred. The gathering took place at a family member's home on Redwood Country Road. According to reports, Frances was shot and killed by her brother-in-law, Michael Galarza, who was 46 years old at the time.
Galarza, described as anti-social and rarely attending family events, arrived at the gathering unannounced the day before the incident.
On the day of the gathering, Galarza asked Frances to step outside, where he then shot her multiple times. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots and found Frances with gunshot wounds to her head, chest, and hand. The wound on her hand suggested she had tried to defend herself. Frances was rushed to the Orlando Regional Medical Center but succumbed to her injuries just before 3 a.m. the following morning.
Michael Galarza was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He claimed that he was there to confront someone who had allegedly abused a family member, although he did not specify who. Galarza's behavior was erratic, and he made a phone call to another relative after the shooting, urging them to inform authorities about the alleged abuse.
